Last body recovered in east China ship sinking

TAIZHOU, Zhejiang -- The body of the last missing person from a ship that sank in eastern Zhejiang Province last week was recovered on Monday, bringing the death toll in the accident to four.

People aboard a passing fishing boat sighted the body in the sea just after 2 p.m. and contacted the rescue center, which retrieved the body an hour later, formally ending the search.

The victim was identified as Chen Jianhua, a staff member at the Taizhou traditional Chinese medicine hospital.

The vessel sank en route to the Yijiangshan islands at about 5 p.m. on Friday. On board were 12 people, who were on a fishing trip, according to the captain.

Eight people, including the captain, were rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police have detained the owner of the unregistered vessel.
