Updated: 2008-07-08 23:46 SHANGHAI -- A man surnamed Zhou has been detained by police here for threatening to bomb a court that he claimed didn't enforce a medical compensation verdict, local police said on Tuesday.
The people's court of Putuo district ruled in November 2007 that the clinic owner, surnamed Wu, should pay compensation for the damage. However, Wu didn't do so. Zhou called police last Thursday afternoon, expressing dissatisfaction that the court didn't enforce the verdict and threatening to bomb it. He was apprehended by police on Sunday evening in Guangzhou and sent back to Shanghai on Monday. Police didn't find any explosives in his residence. Further information about the suspect is being withheld to protect his rights, said police. The case is under further investigation. |
