Several injured after bus explosion in SW China

KUNMING -- A bus explosion injured several people on Monday morning in southwest China's Yunnan Province, local policemen confirmed.

The explosion occurred around 7 a.m. in the Panjiawan bus station in the city proper of Kunming, capital of Yunnan.

One was killed, according to a sanitation worker at the scene, but the local police has not confirmed yet.

Glass debris scattered about could be spotted and the front of the bus could be hardly recognized after the explosion. The bus was later towed away by the police.

A witness said he heard loud noises as the explosion happened.

The scene was cordoned off around 8 a.m. as several thousand locals assembled.

The cause of the blast is under investigation.
