According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Sadiq confirmed that Musharraf would leave for China on Thursday.

Sadiq earlier told Xinhua that Musharraf had decided to cancel his tour to China, without elaborating on reasons for the decision.

Local media reports indicated that the ongoing meeting between the ruling coalition partners Pakistan People's Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is likely to work out a resolution to impeach Musharraf.

Musharraf held discussions with some constitutional experts and met with the leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) on Wednesday.

After the meeting with Musharraf, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, opposition leader in the National Assembly and leader of pro- Musharraf PML-Q said that the President's visit to China had been rescheduled.

Musharraf's flight to China was initially slated to set off on Wednesday afternoon.
