Chinese KMT Chairman Wu Poh-Hsiung called on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to make joint efforts to achieve more convenient cross-Straits air traffic.

"Cross-Straits exchanges are becoming more frequent, and tourist between the two side are increasing noticeably" Wu told a press conference before boarding the plane from Xiamen to Taipei, ending his hometown visit in Fujian Province.

Wu and his wife Dai Meiyu came to Fujian to visit his home village after attending the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Beijing.

Talking about the cross-Straits relationship, Wu said he believed Chinese people have the ability to resolve the problems and develop interests for both sides.

Before going back to Taiwan, Wu also visited a famous tea enterprise invested by a successful Taiwan businessman in Xiamen.
