Innovative alarm system protects Shaanxi cabs

Taxi drivers in Xianyang, Shaanxi province will now be protected by a new alarm system in their cabs.

A taxi driver can press a button under the steering wheel and a screen with the words "I am being robbed, please call police", will light up in the cab's rear window.

"In the past, we used emergency lights, but robbers could see the lights and then they would hurt us," said cab driver Shi Zhiyong.

"Now, the screen can only be seen by people outside the taxi. The robbers inside will not know we have called for help," he said.
