Up to 632 aged people received their junior or senior high school diplomas from Tianjin's renowned Nankai High School, where they finished courses 40 years ago but were refused certification during the "cultural revolution".

Classes were suspended in 1966 when most students were forced to leave for the countryside and re-education as farmers.

Nankai, founded in 1904, was Alma Mater for many of China's biggest names, including late premier Zhou Enlai.
