Chinese shares open 2 pct lower following Wall Street slump

BEIJING -- China's share prices opened 2 percent lower on Thursday, following a more than five-percent overnight plummet on the Wall Street.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 1,977.21 points, down 40.27 points, or 2.0 percent, from the previous close.
