HONG KONG - Hong Kong stocks breached the key 15,000 level and surged 1,198.78 points, or 8.66 percent, to close at 15,044.87 on Monday as the market expected more stimulus measures from China during the country's annual economic work conference opening Monday in Beijing.

Turnover jumped to HK$63.88 billion (US$8.25 billion) from Friday's HK$37.34 billion(US$4.82 billion).

Share prices surged across the board as aggressive investors rushed to buy into shares of blue-chip companies, especially those companies registered in the Chinese mainland.
