Updated: 2008-12-30 17:35 HANOI -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has met with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei on bilateral relations.
Important progress has been achieved in Sino-Vietnamese relations so far this year, Dung said at his meeting with Wu on Monday. Wu is leading a Chinese government delegation to the current round of talks between the heads of the government teams of China and Vietnam for negotiations on border issues between the two countries. Top leaders of the two countries have decided to establish an all-round strategic partnership of cooperation between Vietnam and China, a move that has helped bring bilateral ties into a new stage of development, he said. The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese government attach great importance to the development of relations with China, and will strive to enrich the significance of the all-round strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries for the benefit of the two peoples, said the prime minister. Meanwhile, major progress has been made in the work of land border demarcation and erecting land border markers between the two countries, said Dung. He expressed the hope the government negotiating teams of both Vietnam and China will make concerted efforts to complete the work of land border demarcation and erecting land border markers along the entire length of the land borders between the two countries on schedule, in practical implementation of the consensus reached between top leaders of the two countries. Speaking on the same occasion, Wu said that the Chinese government always views China-Vietnam relations from a strategic perspective. China is ready to work together with Vietnam to advance the good-neighborly and friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, he noted.
China and Vietnam should make continued efforts to complete the work of demarcation of land borders between the two countries, in promoting peace, stability and prosperity along the border areas of the two countries, and in promoting in-depth development of the all-round strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Vietnam, he said. |
