China will offer $1 million in cash as emergency humanitarian aid for the Palestinian National Authority to buy urgently needed material, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Tuesday.

China is deeply concerned with the current situation in Gaza and hopes parties involved could immediately halt the conflict, Qin said.

"China hopes that all parties listen to the opinion and the appeals of the international community, stop the bloodshed and resolve existing differences through dialogue," Qin said.

China has played a constructive role in the mediation efforts, he aded.

On the same day, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun made the cease-fire appeal to Israeli Ambassador Amos Nadai when they met at the ministry.

He called on both sides to "refrain" and reach ceasefire as soon as possible.
