Genius kid revealed to be a monk

A recent report that a once popular genius kid has become a monk is stirring controversy across the country.

Ning Bo caused a sensation back in 1977 when he became the country's youngest university student at age 13.

Ning was able to recite some 30 poems by the late Chairman Mao before age 3. At 3, he could count numbers from 1 to 100 and at 4, he could recognize more than 400 Chinese characters.

Contrary to what many expected of him, he's been working quietly as a lecturer in a Buddhism college in a temple near Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi province.
