The China Society for Human Rights Studies, the sponsor, said the site was launched to mark the 50th anniversary of the democratic reform and serfs' emancipation in Tibet, which began in 1959.

The society said it would use words, data and images to convey to the world the tremendous changes in Tibet's human rights over the past 50 years.
