Beirut meet stresses good Lebanon-China trade ties

BEIRUT -- The importance of trade ties between Lebanon and China was the top subject of discussion in a conference held Thursday in Beirut Crown Plaza Hotel, local Daily Star reported Friday.

"The Chinese council for trade development has the major role of a mediator, working to maintain good commercial ties with China, and facilitate communication obstacles which could be due to the spoken language," the head of Beirut traders association Nadim Assim said.

Sabah Ramadan, a member of Beirut traders association stressed the importance of strengthening commercial ties between the two countries, adding that the Hong Kong council of trade development is the road for Lebanese merchants to the Chinese market.

Jeff Ember John, from Hong Kong vowed that the council for trade development would provide all necessary facilities and help to the Lebanese commercial sector.

Importation of Chinese commodities has been increasing in Lebanon, while more Lebanese traders are visiting China for commercial business and trade.
