NEW YORK -- Chinese were among those killed in Binghamton shooting Friday, Chinese Consulate-General in New York quoted police sources as saying Saturday.

Deputy Consul General Shi Yong and other consulate officials are on their way to Binghamton to get more detailed information about the victims and handle other related affairs.

As many as 14 people have been shot dead, four injured in a murderous three-minute shooting rampage inside an upstate New York civic association building that caters to immigrants.  

According to the Chinese Consulate-general in New York, a Chinese student was among those wounded in the shooting.

Binghamton Police Chief Joe Zikuski said that the gunman, a 41- year-old Vietnamese immigrant named Jiverly Wong, entered the one- story American Civic Association in downtown Binghamton around 10: 30 a.m. Friday and began his shooting spree. He took his own life after killing 13 people.
