Updated: 2009-04-13 11:52 NANNING -- Police in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are still chasing a man who attacked two security guards Monday morning in a failed attempt to rob an armored bank vehicle. The man, riding a motorcycle, sprayed an unknown substance with a homemade water gun at the two guards standing by the cash-carrying van outside a bank in Lipu County of Guilin at around 8 am, a county government spokesman said. He said the driver immediately drove the van away to avoid robbery. "The suspect then fled the scene, leaving his motorcycle behind." The guards were taken to a hospital to have their eyes flushed with water. Doctors said they were unharmed. The spokesman said nothing was taken from the van, which belongs to the China Post and Savings Bank that owns the vehicle. Police were still hunting for the suspect, but no one was able to describe what he looked like, as he was wearing a raincoat and helmet when he attacked, the spokesman said. |
