China will surpass the United State to become Egypt's largest trading partner by 2010, said Egyptian Ambassador to China Mahmoud Allam in Beijing on Wednesday.

Allam made the forecast at a ceremony marking the tenth anniversary of the establishment of Egypt-China strategic relationship of cooperation.

"I hope to see more Egyptian commodities on China's market," said Allam.

Commenting on the entrepreneur conference of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum to be held April 20-22 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Allam said it would be a good chance for Chinese and Egyptian entrepreneurs, especially those from small- and medium-sized companies, to talk face to face and seek opportunities.

"Participants will also discuss about revising some standards to make them more market-friendly for both countries," Allam added, without elaborating.

China and Egypt established diplomatic ties in 1956 and forged strategic cooperative ties in 1999. The bilateral trading volume hit US$6.2 billion in 2008, according to China Custums' statistics.
