Pet chickens are not some tenants' best friends

Some residents are pecking mad that their building grounds are overrun with chickens.

The residents say that the 500 or so chickens outside their apartment buildings are disturbing their peaceful lives in Nanning, capital of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Reports said some tenants feed and treat the chickens like pets and while they don't eat them, they enjoy their eggs.

Those oppose to the chickens said they are concerned about the possible harm to their health and the living environment.

The property manager said he has no idea what to do except to beg the chicken owners to give up the idea. He doesn't have any enforcement powers.
