KMT chairman lands for talks with President Hu

Updated: 2009-05-25 09:13 Wu Poh-hsiung, chairman of the ruling Kuomintang (KMT) in Taiwan, will land in Beijing Monday morning to start his week-long visit to the mainland. He will meet President Hu Jintao in the capital tomorrow for what will be their second meeting. Their first was in last May shortly after the KMT's victory in the local "presidential" election.
Taiwan media reported that, as Ma is expected to take over the KMT chairmanship in July, Wu's meeting with President Hu could be to pave the way for a meeting between Hu and Ma. Wu will lead a delegation to attend the 80th anniversary of the burial of KMT founder Dr. Sun Yat-sen at a mausoleum in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, on June 1, following the removal of Sun's body from its original resting place in Beijing. Wu will also visit the cities of Chongqing and Hangzhou after leaving Beijing on May 27, arriving in Nanjing on May 30. .He will return to Taiwan on June 1. |
