Suspected H1N1 flu case reported in S China

Updated: 2009-05-27 10:01 GUANGZHOU -- The health authorities of southern China's Guangdong Province reported a new suspected A(H1N1) influenza case early Wednesday.
The case involved a 62-year-old ethnic Chinese man of US nationality, who arrived in Hong Kong on May 17 on Cathay Pacific flight CX 879 from San Francisco. He took a bus to Taishan, Jiangmen in Guangdong Province, on May 18. He developed a fever on May 20 and saw a doctor on May 22. The next day, he went to the People's Hospital of Taishan city, and was tested positive for A(H1N1) flu by the municipal Center of Disease Control and Prevention. On Tuesday, the Guangdong provincial and Guangzhou municipal centers of Disease Control and Prevention also tested the case A(H1N1) positive. The provincial health authorities diagnosed the case as a suspected A(H1N1) flu case on Tuesday night. As of Tuesday, the mainland had 12 confirmed A(H1N1) flu cases. |
