Girl nearly misses exam due to broken elevator

A girl nearly missed the crucial college entrance examination on Sunday after a power failure left her stranded inside an elevator for one hour.

Xu, the student, was going out with her father at 13:40 pm on Sunday when she was trapped in the elevator in her building in Dalian, Liaoning province.

Her dad called the building's property management authorities but he was told that the power cut was out of their control.

He then called firefighters and cops who opened the elevator and rushed her to the exam room at 14:50, or 10 minutes ahead of the examination time.
