Girl, 16, hires boy, 14, to kill her mother over affair

A 16-year-old girl in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison after she hired a 14-year-old boy to kill her mother.

The girl, a middle school student, felt angry after she suspected her mother of having an affair with a man. In 2008, when her classmate wanted to borrow some money from her, she told the boy that she would give him 500 yuan ($73) if he killed her mother. Then the boy killed the girl's mother after school.

A month later, the girl and boy were arrested. The boy was also sentenced to 12 years in prison.
