Ukraine hopes to boost economic co-op with China

KIEV: Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said on Monday that her country is willing to enhance trade and economic cooperation with China, calling on Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Ukraine's economy.

"We hope that our mutual relations will continue developing actively. We hope to step up cooperation concerning potential investments in Ukraine's economy by Chinese businessmen," Tymoshenko told reporters after meeting with a Chinese delegation led by Wan Jifei, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

Mentioning that Ukraine is preparing for the 2012 European Football Championship, Tymoshenko urged Chinese businessmen to take active part in all of the infrastructure projects construction for the championship.

Wan said Chinese businessmen are ready to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with Ukraine's partners.

"We consider today's meeting as one of the most large-scale events in recent years, and we hope to deepen cooperation with Ukraine," he added.

Speaking to the Euro-2012, Wan said China was willing to share its experiences obtained in hosting the 2008 Beijing Olympics with Ukraine.

"We are ready to share our experiences in building stadiums and taking a number of necessary measures linked to the organization of events of such a scale," he said.
