China, Japan reaffirm denuclearization of DPRK

Updated: 2009-07-10 23:45 TOKYO: Visiting Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone agreed Friday on the importance to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
The six-party talks have been stalled since December over ways to verify Pyongyang's nuclear activities. The two sides also agreed while implementing the United Nations' resolution on Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), peaceful approaches should be applied to settle the problems to maintain stability on the peninsula. Wu is visiting Japan as part of a four-nation trip which has already taken him to Russia and the United States. He will head to South Korea after leaving Japan on Sunday. |
