Tropical storm Soudelor lands in south China

Updated: 2009-07-12 21:21 GUANGZHOU: The fifth tropical storm this year, Soudelor, made landfall in south China's Hainan and Guangdong provinces Sunday, bringing strong winds and heavy rains.
The storm, which formed in the sea to the north of Luzon Island, Philippines, on Friday, packed winds of up to 97.2 km per hour and downpours to the western coast of Guangdong. The storm is expected to move westward to approach to the northern coast of Vietnam Sunday evening. |
