Drowning boy's cry for help mistaken for a prank
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-07-23 09:10 A 17-year-old boy drowned to death in a water reservoir in Chongqing municipality when his frantic calls for help were mistaken for a joke on Friday. Tang Wajun, the son of migrant worker parents in the city, went swimming with two of his friends in a reservoir to beat the heat. While in the water, Tang, who knew how to swim, got tired and waved his hands, screaming out to his friends for help. His friends thought he was just playing his usual pranks. Tang's body was recovered from the water at 10 pm. (Chongqing Commercial Daily) |
