Theater at Urumqi bazaar reopens after riot

Updated: 2009-07-26 08:33 URUMQI: A large theater at the International Grand Bazaar in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, reopened Saturday evening, after nearly 20 days of closure since the deadly July 5 riot.
The hall on the first floor of the threater, the largest of its kind in Xinjiang, can hold 600 audience. Prior to the riot, the threater's revenue a day was about 500,000 yuan ($73,200), according to managers. |
