Shenzhen Mayor sacked for “grave disciplinary offences”

Updated: 2009-07-28 18:54 Xu Zongheng was formally removed from his position as mayor of Shenzhen, one of China's largest and wealthiest cities, after he was linked to serious disciplinary violations, the Guangdong-based Guangzhou Daily reported Tuesday.
After the 53-year-old Xu was placed under investigation for corruption in June, Wang Rong, the former party chief of East China's Suzhou city, was tapped to serve as acting mayor. |
