Taiwan reports 1st swine flu death

Updated: 2009-07-30 23:57 TAIPEI: Taiwan has reported its first swine flu-related death. The Centers for Disease Control says a 39-year-old man who once had liver cancer and had been suffering from hepatitis died Thursday after being confirmed as a swine flu patient. The centers' deputy director, Shih Wen-yi, says the man was hospitalized July 14 after showing symptoms of the illness. Taiwan has reported more than 1,000 cases of swine flu since June 1. |
