BEIJING: The heaviest rainstorm of the year hit Beijing from Thursday night through Friday early morning.

The average rainfall in the urban area reached 16 mm Friday.

The previous heaviest rainstorm that hit Beijing was on July 14, with an average rainfall of 15 mm in the urban area.

The rain flooded some roads and affected traffic. No accident was reported as of 1:40 a.m.
