XINING: Another died of pneumonic plague Sunday in northwest China's Qinghai Province, raising the death toll from the infectious disease to two, local government said late Sunday.
Danzin, 37, in Ziketan town, Xinghai county of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture died Sunday morning. He is a neighbor of the first dead, a 32-year-old herdsman, in the disease outbreak that was uncovered on July 30 and also sickened another 10 in Ziketan.
Danzin was admitted to a hospital at 11 p.m. on July 31 after developing symptoms of fever and coughs. The other 10 patients who are still quarantined didn't show any symptoms of fever and coughs. Most of them are relatives of the first dead man.
Local health authorities continues to disinfect the region and track those who had close contacts with the patients.
Ziketan town covers 3,000 square kilometers and has a population of 10,000.
