This village of 20 families has 10 PhDs, 20 grads

Updated: 2009-08-05 09:43 A remote village in Xianning, Hubei province, recently earned the title of "the village of PhDs", as it has given new China 10 doctorate degree holders since 1949. Lishou village in the city's Heshengqiao township, with no more than 20 families, has also produced 20 university graduates. Villagers said it had been in their nature to instill the importance of education in their children for years. (Chutian Metropolis Daily) |
