China mulls electronic medical records launch

The Ministry of Health is soliciting opinion on the basic structure and numerical standards of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), in an effort to slash medical costs for patients, the Ministry said in a statement on its website Tuesday.

EMRs would be established, used and recorded by medical institutes and would cover records including summarized medical records, outpatient services, hospitalizations, physical check-ups, referrals, medico-legal statements and reports, and information on related medical institutes.
