Wuxi Public Security Bureau denies bribe charges

A spokesman for the Traffic Management Bureau in Wuxi city, East China's Jiangsu province denied charges that Public Security Bureay officers took bribes from US label maker Avery Dennison to help the company win business contracts at Monday's press conference, chinanews.com.cn reported Tuesday.

The spokesman said the Bureau has never had any business contacts with foreign companies. US label maker Avery Dennison has admitted paying bribes to the Traffic Management Bureau in Wuxi as well as several research institutions last Tuesday.

Later that day, according to the Los Angeles Times, the company said in a press release that only a handful of its employees were involved, and that it had already disciplined them and reported the incidents to the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the Justice Department.
