Serbian president to visit China next week

Updated: 2009-08-14 02:06 BELGRADEļ¼Serbian President Boris Tadic will pay an official visit to China starting from next week to have talks with highest Chinese officials, Tadic's office said on Thursday. Tadic, who will be in China from August 20 to 25, will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, the Serbian president's press service said, adding that Tadic will also meet Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and China's top legislator Wu Bangguo. This is the first official visit of its kind since Serbia's independence in June 2006. Tadic visited China in 2005 when Serbia was part of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro. He also attended the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics last August as a guest invited by the Serbian Olympic Committee. According to his visit program, Tadic will attend an investment forum in Beijing, together with representatives from many Chinese companies. An agreement will be signed in Beijing about the cooperation in infrastructural projects between the governments of Serbia and China. In addition to Beijing, Tadic will also visit Shanghai, where he will take part in another business forum with representatives of prominent Chinese companies.The Serbian delegation will also include Deputy Prime Minister Mladjan Dinkic and Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic. |
