Volunteers wanted for 60th anniversary celebration

Beijing police are trying to mobilize 800,000 volunteers throughout the city to strengthen safety as China approaches the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of its founding, which begin on October 1st, the Beijing News reported on Friday.

According to the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, Beijing police have organized 32,000 meetings in communities and handed out over 720,000 pamphlets to achieve the 800,000 target.
