CNOOC denies bribery allegations

Updated: 2009-08-17 10:53 China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) denied Saturday that any of its staff had taken bribes from the US-based valve manufacturer Control Components Incorporated (CCI), the Beijing News reported on Saturday. CNOOC said it had undertaken five thorough investigations on all its business contacts with CCI in the last eight years. The US Department of Justice recently released a report saying that CCI admitted offering US$4.8 million in bribes to several Chinese State-owned firms between 2003 and 2007, including CNOOC, PetroChina, Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation, Guohua Electric Power, China Petroleum Materials and Equipment Corporation, and Dongfang Electric Corporation None of the other companies have made any statement concerning the allegations yet. |
