The mainland so far has donated 176 million yuan ($25.9 million) to aid typhoon-hit Taiwan, Fan Liqing, the spokesperson for the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, said at a news conference this morning, the China News Service reported.

Fan also said the mainland has donated disaster-relief materials worth 25 million yuan ($3.7 million) to the island, including 100 prefabricated houses from Shenzhen that have arrived at Kaohsiung port in southern Taiwan yesterday.

The spokesperson also assured the Taiwan media that the prefabricated houses have no quality problems, in response to concerns that they might have high levels of formaldehyde.
