KOTRA's survey covered 636 South Korean firms in China, of which 48.6 percent aim to beef up their presence here.

About 6.1 percent of the respondents plan to downsize their Chinese operation while 41.17 percent plan to keep their current size.

The survey shows that the growing Chinese market is the major factor attracting South Korean firms. China's cheap labor costs and the ailing business environment in South Korea is also driving them to invest here.

About half of the respondents see China's business environment improving, according to the survey.
