Robber who stabbed self to avoid prison jailed

A court in Anshan, Liaoning province, sentenced a robber, who stabbed himself to avoid going to jail after he was surrounded by cops, to six months in prison earlier this week.

Realizing he had no way to escape after he stole a woman's handbag at a local hospital, the man stabbed himself with a surgical knife in March.

He was sentenced to jail after he recovered from the self-inflicted injury.
