BEIJING: A coal mine blast has killed 35 and left another 44 miners trapped in central China's Henan province, the state work safety watchdog said Tuesday.

Coal mine blast kills 35 in Henan, 44 missing Five killed in coal mine accident in NE China

The accident took place at about 1 am Tuesday at a township coal mine in Pingdingshan City of Henan province, the State Administration of Work Safety said on its website Tuesday morning, without giving any reason of the blast.

There were 93 men working underground at the time of the blast, with 14 miners managing to flee to safety, it said.
