Work shed collapse buries scores in SW China city

CHENGDU: Scores of workers were buried after a work shed collapsed early Thursday morning in Chengdu, the capital city of southwestern China's Sichuan Province.

Rescue work was under way, sources with the municipal public security bureau said. They have not yet ascertained the exact number buried.

The accident occurred at around 2:00 a.m. Thursday on a construction site at the senior high school campus of the Shishi Middle School in the city's Chenghua District.

Local fire fighters have so far managed to rescued three workers who were buried and evacuated 16 who had been trapped in wreckage.
