Updated: 2009-09-15 13:58 The Beijing municipal public security bureau said the number of people passing through the exit-entry procedure reached a record high of 121,916 for August and the first half of September. The police said many tourists were attracted by the sharp discount on outbound travel currently being promoted by domestic traveling agencies in the lead up to the eight-day National Day holiday. Chaoyang police said the permits to Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan and passport applications have also increased dramatically since the end of August, with approximately 400 each day. |
