An engineer battalion comprised of 275 soldiers was established in Yunnan province Tuesday to fulfill the sixth peacekeeping mission in Lebanon at the request of the United Nations.

Preparation work for the battalion, including training of the soliders on more than 100 subjects and the professional training of 19 electricians, welders and brick workers, started in July.

The soldiers will leave for the middle-east country next month to discharge landmines, build and maintain roads, in addition to performing other humanitarian tasks.

Seventy soldiers of the battalion have been to the country for peacekeeping before, with this mission calling for an eight month stay.
