City ups reward for informants

Updated: 2009-09-23 07:42 SHANGHAI: The rewards are growing 'expo'nentially.
At 30 times the usual reward, the offer is equivalent to that offered during the Beijing Olympics, bureau officials said Monday. Clues to crimes that threaten State and public security, the economy and social order all fall into that category. Informants can mail, e-mail, call or go to the public security bureaus directly. Free writing paper and envelopes are available at police stations, community centers, 24-hour convenience stores and subway stations. Informant e-mails can be sent to gaj110@shanghai.gov.cn. Once the clue is proven to have assisted the investigation, the local bureau will notify the informant. The bureau promises to keep the informants secret. Nearly 1,000 informants have received rewards since 2005 for clues that helped investigations in the city, bureau officials said. |
