Former Chongqing official arrested

Updated: 2009-09-28 12:13 Wen Qiang, former head of the Judicial Administration Bureau in Chongqing Municipality, has been arrested for suspicions of protecting local gangs and taking briberies , Xinhuanet reported last Sunday. The local authorities also approved the arrest of Wen's accomplice Peng Changjian, deputy chief of the Chongqing's public security bureau.
Their illegal income of over 100 million yuan ($ 14.5 million) has been confiscated and the money Wen transferred overseas is still under investigation. |
