Global anti-cancer NGO launches China liaison office

TIANJIN: Union Internationale Contre de Cancer (UICC), a global anti-cancer organization, has established its China liaison office in Tianjin, a metropolis in northern China, a source with Tianjin Tumour Hospital confirmed Wednesday.

The office is the second regional liaison office the international union against cancer has launched around the globe.

The office is located at the headquarters of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association in the Tianjin Tumour Hospital.

According to Hao Xishan, head of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and president of the Tianjin Tumour Hospital, the newly-established office will help UICC with its efforts in worldwide anti-cancer campaigns, encourage local cancer control endeavors and improve anti-cancer awareness among Chinese people.

Founded in 1933, UICC is the largest non-governmental organization dedicated to cancer control in the world. It has 346 members in 109 countries and regions.

The Chinese Anti-Cancer Association joined UICC in 1992.
