Residents can book train ticket on phone in SW China

Residents in southwest China's Sichuan province, Chongqing municipality and Guizhou province will soon be able to book train tickets through a telephone booking system, according to China.com.cn.

The Ministry of Railways has approved the pilot programs for these areas and the system in Sichuan will begin functioning the day after tomorrow.

Residents in Sichuan will be able to book their tickets by dialing 4008812306 and then pick up their tickets at any ticket vendors in the province.

This move will bring convenience to locals, reduce pressure on the ticket booths at railway stations, and reduce urban traffic, said an official of the Chengdu Railway Bureau, which is in charge of the railways in all three areas listed above.
