Woman fined for exaggerating theft

A woman in Xiamen, Fujian province, was fined 500 yuan ($74) for exaggerating the amount stolen from her house recently.

Wang told investigating officers burglars took away 5.2 million yuan in cash from her house, when she had only lost jewelry worth 20,000 yuan.

Wang, who blurted out the truth when interrogated, said she had exaggerated the amount hoping the police would take her case more seriously.
