Prices for out-bound tours nosedive after holiday

The lowest prices to date in 2009 for tours from Shanghai to Japan, South Korea and some southeastern Asian islands are being offered on leading tourism website www.ctrip.com, Xinhuanet reported today.

The price of a four-day tour from Shanghai to South Korea has been lowered to 2,500 yuan ($366.2), almost 1,000 yuan lower than the price offered during the eight-day National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 8. The price of a six-day parent’s tour from Shanghai to Japan has been lowered by 1,200 yuan, to approximately 5,000 yuan. Prices of other tours have also been lowered.

Data from tourism agencies show that a new tourism peak appeared in the wake of the National Day holiday, Xinhua reported.
